Sew For Hope is a ministry of Servant Group International. Our mission is to encourage and equip the body of Christ to love and serve our Middle Eastern and refugee neighbors. At Sew For Hope, we offer the opportunity for followers of Jesus to serve refugee women by sharing sewing and business skills, while also building connections and friendships.
We seek to help every student graduate from our program knowing they are loved and valued as well as having gained important marketable skills in sewing and business.
At the successful completion of the beginning sewing program, students are awarded a certificate of completion and a new sewing machine. Many are able to go on from here to get jobs or they may decide to take intermediate and advanced classes.
Basic Sewing Classes
The basic sewing classes are structured to give a student basic proficiency by learning a new skill each week over the course of a semester. Students make a variety of items from home decor to accessories. Their final project is a custom-fit garment they can bring or wear to the graduation ceremony. If you would like to be a student, apply HERE.
Additional Sewing Classes
After a student has completed the basic sewing class, there are a variety of different classes she can take to specialize and grow her skills. We regularly offer Children’s Clothing, Women’s Clothing, Serger and Embroidery, Quilting, and Alterations. These students also get certifications and gifts at graduation.
Class Schedule (Fall 2025 — next schedule coming in December)
(Note: Most classes fill up quickly! So apply now to get in or get on the waitlist for next semester.)
Job Training and Referrals
Job referrals and application assistance are offered to our graduates as jobs become available. Currently our graduates work in a variety of alterations shops and sewing factories. A few have even started their own sewing businesses!
For Employers
Our goal is that our students will be able to move forward as independent employees or contractors with a written agreement with their employer.
We love to help connect our graduates with jobs that pay a fair rate and treat them well. To be clear, we are a training program and not a production facility. We do not offer product development, pattern construction, or quality control on contract jobs.
If you have questions for us or employment opportunities for our graduates please contact Program Director, Bonnie Myers, at bonnie@servantgroup.org.
Donations
Our ministry operates through donations from the community and we are always grateful for working machines, bolts of fabric, and notions. You can learn more about what is usually helpful HERE.
Please contact us before dropping off any physical donations to confirm current needs by emailing Bonnie Myers at bonnie@servantgroup.org.
