Refugee Services
Nashville, Tennessee is home to almost 15,000 refugees and immigrants from the Middle East, North Africa, and the Balkans, most of whom lost their homes due to war or political persecution. The largest majority are from Northern Iraq, but Nashville is also home to families from Iran, Southern Iraq, Somalia, Egypt, Turkey, Bosnia, and other nations.
Refugees arrive with few possessions, and physical and emotional needs
are great. In response, the staff and volunteers of SGI have served hundreds
of refugee families, both in word and deed, by helping them locate jobs,
housing, schools and healthcare. |
